A decade ago, Carla Risco, a Chilean-born textiles artist, gave up her career in engineering and set off with a no-return ticket to Oceania. During her travels, she witnessed first-hand the horrifying damage our actions are doing to the planet. Climate change quickly became a real concern for Carla, and therefore its reduction a top priority in her life.
Following her 2012 arrival in Australia, she remained driven by her dreams of helping to heal the environment, and this drive finally helped her to find the courage to make these dreams a reality. This came in the form of TreeKid, a Melbourne-based kids clothing label focused on reducing the impact that fashion manufacturing has on the environment. Carla firmly believes that paying attention to the environmental impact of every single step in the supply chain is fundamental to achieving sustainability.
The unique, colourful garments that Carla designs and manufactures at TreeKid adjust in size as your little ones grow. She is constantly researching and implementing better practices and solutions across fabric selection, manufacturing processes, and distribution – the ultimate goal for TreeKid designs is to become a circular fashion label.
