We have just launched MADE BY MANY HANDS – an online marketplace that connects customers with migrant women with a product or service to sell.
Selling in online marketplaces is now becoming a core part of many retailers’ strategies and is the foundation of building and entrepreneurial business that can withstand the types of challenges we have seen in 2020. Marketplaces in Australia grew by a huge 74.8% just last year (2019). with almost 70% of Australians visiting an online marketplace or auction site like eBay or Amazon every month.
What makes Made by Many Hands unique?
All product sales are managed by the vendors. We are giving migrant and refugee women advice, along autonomy and independence to create their own products, set their own prices and sell directly to the market.
Unlike other platforms – they will be paid immediately and directly for their product or service. We recognise the critical importance that our vendors have control and stewardship of their own income.
The platform interface is designed with low literacy levels in mind and limited access to computers and Wi-Fi to manage online sales. Product upload and management will be able to be managed from a mobile device – a tool we know most women have access to.
Once established, profits from our platform will be ploughed back in to support migrant women to become independent entrepreneurs – through skill and literacy enhancing programs.
Products are all ethically sourced and manufactured.
