The Sher & Seo brand was born out of a journey of self-creation and a burning desire to make a positive impact on the world. Donna Sherwani, a lawyer turned fashion designer, embarked on a path that would redefine her purpose and empower her to create eye-catching, luxe-vegan, and sustainable fashion accessories with a social conscience.

 

After the birth of her children, Donna experienced a profound shift in perspective. She realised that her life's course needed to align with her mission to create meaningful change rather than simply pursuing a career based on her law degree. Inspired by the emerging world of NFTs and the metaverse, Donna began exploring her creative side and ventured into the realm of designing her own merchandise.

 

As she sold her creations on platforms like Amazon, Etsy, and Redbubble, Donna's passion for putting her designs on products she loved grew stronger. The moment she received orders from customers in France, New Zealand, and South Korea, she felt an indescribable joy. It was a testament to the global reach of her creations and the power of her designs to resonate with people across cultures and continents.

 

However, it was during her search for a bag for her upcoming trip to Korea with her two children that Donna's life took a transformative turn. She realised that many of the bags she admired from mega brands were made using animal skin, which she realised conflicted with her values of cruelty-free fashion. Determined to find an alternative that aligned with her principles of social justice, the environment, and sustainability, Donna decided to create her own vegan leather bags.

 

Inspired by storytelling and driven by her desire to create a better future for her children, Donna sat down to design something that would be unique and in line with her mission of living according to courage and purpose. She wanted to create beauty without compromising on ethics, a fashion accessory that was as stunning as it was cruelty-free.

 

Despite the hardships of raising two children and breastfeeding, while starting up a business, Donna poured her heart and soul into the design process. Each sketch and prototype was infused with her passion and dedication. For her first collection, Donna designed bucket bags for fashion-forward individuals, but it is also an ode to her childhood.  It delves into the story of the designer whose experiences as a refugee child have shaped her perception of the world and her artistic expression. In those early days, when resources were scarce, Donna would use buckets to fetch water from nearby wells, neighbours who had water to give, or rivers near their refugee camp, and then carry the water back to her family of five. 

 

Donna believes in being the change you want to see. Sher means lion, while Seo means composed, reminding us to live a for-purpose life courageously and invictusly.
